OPEN LETTER TO HON. MOSES ANIM, MEMBER OF PARLIAMENT – TROBU CONSTITUENCY.

Hon. Moses Anim

MY HONOURABLE MEMBER OF PARLIAMENT MOSES ANIM PARLIAMENT HOUSE, ACCRA.

Honourable,

Special greetings to you!

I felt obliged to write to you this letter to convey my opinion on your performance as our representative in Parliament nearly twelve (12) years in office and still counting, to appraise you and reflect on your handling of the Constituency.

I am a citizen of Ghana, and a resident of Pokuase in Trobu Constituency in the Ga North Municipality, and I have interest in how the affairs of the Constituency is managed.

I am connecting to you through this medium based on the powers that enshrined in our constitution to give every citizen the right of freedom to speech and expression.

Importantly, the principles of participatory democracy demands that I remain a citizen and not spectator in the spirit of holding our political leaders accountable in relation to their performance. This is the more reason why I am writing to you this open letter.

I want to remind you where in 2016 you said that your government was not in power, the more reason you could not affect the Constituency with development. It was your prayers, if your party won and form government, you could do more in terms of development for your Constituents.

You have been poor in delivering your promises since 2016 together with your MCEs per what has been given you.

There is saying in Latin that “qui multum datur, multum exspectetur”. To wit, he who much is given, much is expected, and so I am completely disappointed by your performance as a Member of Parliament which a find very appauling because you have shown little interest in addressing your Constituents and their need.

If I am to grade you, I would grade you under 25% score which automatically earns you an F. This will disqualify you an entry into the University to continue your education. It however will not be in your interest to concept the idea to contest the seat again with this abysmal performance. I would urge you to resign the seat before the time for your party’s Parliamentary nominations.

I am aware that the President, Nana Akufo Addo has unprecedentedly borrowed so much and eaten to the bone but has little to show for. He has woefully failed to deliver on his flagship promises such as Planting for Food, NABCO, One -Village -One Dam, One Million dollars per Constituency, Agenda 111, Free Senior High School among a lot.

Implementation of the touted FSHS policy was poorly done to plunge innocent Ghanaian students to become malnourished. Many of them have been left sleeping in the open because of infrastructure deficiencies.

At the time President Nana Akufo Addo is failing, yourself our MP, has not taken lesson and advantage of any social intervention programme to help develop the Constituency and you are just quiet sitting aloof with your two hands in between your legs to the detriment of the Constituents. The Constituents trusted and believed your promises. They knew you could not deceive them and voted in their numbers for you. It is not surprising that for almost twelve years we have not seen you doing much to champion the cause you promised.

My MP, I want to bring to your attention that we the people of Trobu Constituency and for that matter Ga North Municipality are not interested in political gimmicks. What interest us is the struggle to get rid of poverty, our bad roads, inadequate health facilities, poor educational facilities, the lack of developmental policies of the Constituency is our topmost needs.

Given your status, from Parliament to Ministry, and how close your associate is to doors of powers, I am tempted to ask where your lobbying skills are, if there are any. Most of your colleagues have asphalted their community roads. They have tapped into improved livelihood programmes to help their constituents decode their socioeconomic oppressions but here we are, you are unconcerned about the worrying state of your Constituents of Trobu. I think we deserve better. Your unconcerned nature to respond to this genuine concerns is what has forced me to write you this letter.

There again, we are not aware of any formulation of Municipal Development Plan where people from the Constituency are involved. There are no democratized developmental plans that reflect bottom – up approach. Everything is concentrated at the centre(District) and you sit unperturbed.

I have much to tell you about the poor state of the Constituency. You are not visible in the Constituency neither vocal in Parliament. You do not participate in Parliamentary debates. I have not heard you forward the problems of your Constituency to Parliament before.

You need to wake up from your sleep though the President is sleeping and sinking the country into a ditch. You and I are aware, that the problems of our Constituency are enormous and will take the whole earth space to write it down. This should give you an idea that you have not done much as you promised and must come and apologize to us and if on moral grounds resign before 2024 elections.

Thank you.

Your Constituent,
Signed.
