AKWETEY AGBO MCE FOR GA NORTH, DRIVES GIRLS’ EDUCATION WITH SANITARY PAD DISTRIBUTION LAUNCH IN GA NORTH

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Ga North, Hon. Akwetey Agbo, has spearheaded the official launch of the Government of Ghana’s National Sanitary Pad Distribution Programmed in the municipality. The event, held on Tuesday, 22nd July 2025, at St. John’s Grammar School, marked a major step towards addressing menstrual hygiene challenges and ensuring equal educational opportunities for young girls.
Hon. Akwetey Agbo emphasized the Assembly’s commitment to supporting girls’ education by removing barriers that contribute to absenteeism and school dropouts. Under his leadership, the municipality is prioritizing initiatives that enhance student welfare and empower female learners to stay focused on their academic goals.

The programme, championed by the Government of Ghana, seeks to provide free sanitary pads to female students in public basic and secondary schools as part of a broader national effort to promote menstrual hygiene and dignity among young girls.
The launch brought together key stakeholders, including the Municipal Education Directorate, school heads, and students. It also highlighted plans to sustain the programme through termly distributions, ensuring girls have uninterrupted access to essential hygiene products throughout the academic year.

The MCE urged stakeholders and distribution officers to handle the products responsibly, noting their critical role in safeguarding the welfare of students and supporting a brighter future for the municipality’s youth.
Signed.
